Just a few days before the highly anticipated French Grand Prix at the legendary Circuit Paul Ricard, Gianmarco Ercoli arrives with confidence, motivation, and determination following an extremely strong start to the season with Alumitec Racing. A natural leader and a driver recognized for his speed and consistency, the 2023 NASCAR Euro Series Champion heads into the French round with a clear objective: to continue demonstrating the growing potential of the French team in the NASCAR Euro Series championship.
Following a highly impressive weekend in Valencia earlier this season, Ercoli remains grounded. The driver of the #11 car knows the level of competition remains extremely high and that every detail can make the difference on a circuit as technical as Paul Ricard.
“We are extremely motivated after the start of the season we had in Valencia, but we can never lower our guard,” explained Ercoli. “We always have to keep pushing beyond our limits.”
Even though it will be his first race weekend at Circuit Paul Ricard, Ercoli appears especially excited about discovering one of the fastest and most technical tracks on the European calendar. With its long straights, demanding braking zones, and multiple combinations of corners, the French circuit represents a major challenge for both drivers and engineers.
The Italian driver will notably rely on the experience of Alumitec Racing’s Head of Operations and Competition, Romain Iannetta, to accelerate his learning process during the free practice sessions.
“It will be my first time racing at Paul Ricard. I’ll need to quickly identify the sectors where it’s possible to make the difference in qualifying. Fortunately, our Head of Competition, Iannetta, a highly experienced former driver, knows the circuit very well and I’m sure he’ll provide me with valuable advice,” he added.
Beyond the results on track, Ercoli also highlighted the impressive evolution of the organization since joining Alumitec Racing. According to him, the structure now possesses all the ingredients necessary to establish itself among the top teams in the championship on a long-term basis.
“What impresses me the most is the determination with which this team was built, as well as the tremendous efforts our Team Manager, Alain Lord Mounir, continues to put in. This is a team built to win,” he stated.
Known for performing under pressure, Ercoli also welcomes the expectations surrounding his presence in France this weekend. In front of the many European fans expected in the grandstands at Paul Ricard, the #11 driver sees that pressure as an additional source of motivation.
“Pressure has always brought out the best in me. I love those moments because they help me stay even more focused,” explained Ercoli.
Before concluding, Ercoli also had a simple but clear message for Alumitec Racing supporters:
“Keep supporting the #11 and get ready for an exciting season. We’re going to give everything on track to make you proud and give you plenty of moments to celebrate.” — Gianmarco Ercoli
